“If you are anything like me, a face mask is the part of my skincare routine that I never quite manage to keep up with. I often run out of time or simply don’t make time to put on a face masque. Maybe this is because I haven’t really used one that I can see results from? I have to say, this all changed when I was introduced to the brand new Dermalogica Hydro Masque Exfoliant.
Hydro Masque Exfoliant is a multitasking face masque. It is described as a super hydrating and exfoliating masque that will leave your skin looking and feeling healthy and luminous in just 5 minutes. I decided I had nothing to lose so thought I would give it a try so I popped my head band on to keep my hair back and started applying the mask. It has a push button dispenser so a measured amount comes out each time you press. I had seen all the social media posts about ‘feel the spheres’ so I was very intrigued. As I dispensed it, I could see the little spheres.
As soon as I started applying it to my face, I was struck by the beautiful cucumber smell that it has. It smells fresh and clean. To look at , it’s a creamy, pale blue masque with little blue spheres in and it goes on really easily. Once you have put it on your face, well then the fun begins! The beauty of this masque is that it is customizable. The spheres contain ultra fine bamboo that exfoliates your skin. The idea is that you move the spheres to the area of your face that you feel needs exfoliating. For me, my skin was starting to show the effects of wearing a face mask when out and about so I moved the spheres down to my chin.
The spheres are touch activated and you only need to gently press a sphere and it bursts, releasing the ultra fine bamboo. This is a physical exfoliant but because it is ultra fine, its not harsh on the skin. You can feel a fine powder texture once you have burst a sphere. I then happily burst all the spheres on my face, it was actually quite satisfying and after 5 minutes, I washed the masque off.
I was so surprised, my skin felt lovely! It felt hydrated, looked a bit plumper, healthier and had a definite glow. In my opinion, Hydro Masque Exfoliant delivered pretty good results for a total of just 10 minutes of my time- for me, it was worth it. I have been using it now for about 3 weeks and it has well and truly earned a place in my weekly skincare routine.”
