Kérastase applies its innovative spirit to an entirely new shampoo delivery system.
Available in five Kérastase ranges, the refillable bain provides a completely reusable, beautiful shampoo bottle for an aesthetically pleasing, luxury look in the shower. Our innovative resources are focused on reducing or replacing virgin plastic wherever possible.
We are working towards using less single use plastic. The system reduces the plastic waste associated with single-use shampoo bottles as each pouch contains 82% less plastic than two single bottles.
The Quest for 100% recycled plastic

What we’ve achieved
Between 2020 and 2021, we have significantly increased our use of recycled plastic. In 2021, 64% of our PET* plastic came from post-consumer recycled material. Since October 2021 Our retail shampoo bottles are made with 95% recycled plastic and are recyclable**. The bottle with the cap removed can be easily recycled. In the coming years, the other formats will follow. By 2030, 100% of the plastic we use will be issued from recycled or bio-based sources.

Kérastase is committed to optimising packaging whenever possible, using less virgin materials and more recycled materials, recyclable packaging and refillable delivery systems.
Beginning with shampoo bottles and branching out to more and more products, we are creating a sustainable packaging program, with many more refill innovations to follow.
From bio-based* ingredients such as centella asiatica to biotechnology** sourced actives like hyaluronic acid and amino acid. Our ambition is to combine our highest product efficacy with sustainable processes.
100% OF OUR HYALURONIC ACID IS DERIVED FROM GREEN SCIENCE TECHNOLOGIES.
1) Thanks to bio-fermentation, we extract hyaluronic acid from wheat with no chemical adjuvants.
2) This hyaluronic acid is then transformed into a highly concentrated powder added in its purest and most effective form to our formulas.
*A bio-based ingredient is a raw material developed from renewable organic matter
Renewable raw materials come from plant and microbial materials which are generally produced by agriculture, forestry, and fishing. They regenerate constantly in relatively short cycles (from a few days to a few decades), the duration of which is similar to their duration of use. In cosmetics, renewable raw materials are primarily of plant origin.
ACHIEVING CARBON NEUTRALITY
Since 2019 our factory in Burgos, Spain has achieved carbon neutrality by improving energy efficiency and using 100% renewable energy.
REDUCING WATER CONSUMPTION
Since 2017 our Burgos, Spain production facility has been a ‘waterloop’ factory. This means that 100% of the water used for production processes is recycled and reused in a closed loop. The External water network is only used in the composition of the products or for employee’s day to day needs.
