Running outdoors seems to have taken us all by storm the past few years hasn’t it? A whole army of us taking up running. Everything from a gentle ‘couch to 5k’ through to a full on marathon training programme. And it’s great: running is free, it’s fun and it promotes positive mental health, too.
Whether you’re embarking on a park run, or heading to the fields - headphones in, before the sun comes up - running will get you fit quicker than quick! While running outdoors is a tonic for the mind and a workout for the body, your skin may need a little extra protection from the elements while you exercise outdoors.
Lizzie is a busy mum, a small business owner, product designer and one of life’s fun energetic people. She also loves to exercise - she would say this is one of her sources of energy. I was chatting to her last week about her skin. She has dry skin, she noticed her skin was suffering from her outdoor exercise regime, running up a windy hill when it’s 3 degrees outside, means your skin needs some extra protection.
This week, Lizzie tried 3 new Dermalogica products to keep her winter skin hydrated, post-exercise. Click to watch the video below and find out how you can keep dry skin comfortable and healthy.
Your skin won’t thank you for your fitness plans if you don’t add a few extra things to your skin routine to keep your skin protected from the wind during your run. But help is at hand… Dermalogica have a few great products which will keep your skin moisturised and protected while you get your heart rate up and those thighs toned and strong.
Here’s our ‘runners round up’.
1. Add a booster to your skincare routine before you head out to the hills.
Skin Hydrating Booster is a-ma-zing.
2 - Phyto Replenish oil is great for all skin types.
Pop it on before your moisturiser for an extra layer of nourishment
3 - If you suffer with dry skin, Intensive Moisture Balance is a fantastic moisturiser to use.
4 - Don’t forget your SPF.
Skin is vulnerable to sun damage all year round.
5 Tip! Don’t forget to keep your water intake high to hydrate the body and skin from within.
If you only buy one product for an outdoor runner - Lizzie recommends Phyto Replenish Oil. You can grab a free sample here.
