The epidermis, that’s the outer layers of the your skin, is protected by a barrier on top. This is often called the lipid barrier. It’s a bit like a brick wall - with loose skin cells (that are effectively dead already) as the bricks, held together by lipids (oil) that act as cement. Lipids are naturally found in the sebum (oil) that your sebaceous glands in your follicles produces.
When you don’t have enough lipids, either because your sebaceous glands don’t produce enough oil or because you are using products that strip oils, your lipid barrier starts to break down. This also means that the barrier is weakened or damaged, allowing access to irritants and pollutants and also allowing water to leave the skin.
Guinot's Nutrizone Cream has been cleverly designed to help put back and repair the lipid barriers.
Proceramides are waxy, lipid molecules that provide in-depth moisture to skin. Because proceramides in Guinot’s Nutrizone work to rebuild the damaged structure of dry skin, you will notice a softer, radiant complexion after regular use.
If you have dry skin, you should look for Guinot skincare product names that include the term “Nutri”
or “Nutrition.”
Guinot work on the basis that every person's skin is different and is exposed to different environmental and stressful conditions at different times. That’s one of the reasons why there is such a wide range of skincare products and treatments available from Guinot.
Guinot have designed what they call the ‘step up system’.
You start with a tube moisturiser and then ‘step up’ to a jar.
The tube moisturisers are designed to introduce your skin to active ingredients whereas the jars are perfect once your skin is used to the active ingredients and ready for a higher concentration.
You can also readily interchange between a tube and a jar. For example, you can use a tube on a daily basis and then maybe ‘step up’ to a jar for a month or so if you feel your skin needs a more intense cream. This ‘step up’ might be needed if you notice changes in your skin that you want to address. Once you are happy with your skin, you can go back to your tube cream or stick to your jar, it's up to you!
