How do I use a Dermalogica moisturiser?

Before we get into the individual Dermalogica moisturisers available, we wanted to refresh ourselves on how we moisturise. It’s one of those things that you may feel like you’ve been doing forever, but have never been shown the right way to moisturise.

So:

Get a blob about the size of a small coin on the back of your hand
Using your finger tip, stroke in upward circles starting on the cheeks and over the face
You should be moisturising twice daily, after cleansing and toning

Three things that you must know about Dermalogica products

Premature Ageing - Dermalogica use this term a lot but what does that mean? At Jersey Beauty Company we love our ageing skin. We celebrate wrinkles as a natural part of the ageing process. But only about 20% of what you see as changes on your skin is part of that natural ageing process. Only 20% of the fine lines and wrinkles are as a result of the natural changes to the structure of your skin. That means 80% is the result of damage from climate, pollution and lifestyle. When Dermalogica talk about premature ageing, they’re talking about dealing with the 80% of fine lines, wrinkles and rough dull skin.

Know what 'natural' and 'fragrance free' means – a common misconception, especially from people who have sensitised skin, is the need for fragrance-free skincare products. Dermalogica moisturisers are all formulated using natural fragrances – that doesn’t mean they are fragrance-free. The term 'fragrance' just means free from what are known as 'artificial fragrances.' The truth is most fragrances are distilled and added in a lab. But – Dermalogica fragrances are designed for sensitised skin. A common myth is that sensitive skin needs fragrance-free products – it isn’t actually the case. Sometimes, naturally derived fragrances can be a bit strong for the skin - that is why they are distilled and watered down in a lab!

A.G.E – (Advanced Glycation Ends) – AGE Smart products from Dermalogica contain peptides in them to stop sugar traps in your skin. As your skin ages, this is a common concern and sugar will be trapped in your skin and will damage the collagen and elastin.
